Q & A

What kind of people are getting their hair removed?

Men of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds are discovering the benefits of being hair free.

How can I book an appointment?

Advance booking is recommended. To book an appointment you can call or text 07511 158639 or email waxim.enquiries@outlook.com. If I am in treatment or closed, I will be unable to answer the phone so leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible during opening hours.

Where can I find you?

The Waxim suite is located down Fishers yard, just off St Neots Market Square, between Sugar Daddies cake supplies shop and Hollywood Precision Waxing.

Where can I park?

The Riverside Car Park is between £1.60 for 2 hours and £3 for 10 hours and is a 5-minute walk over the town bridge.

What sort of wax do you use?

Waxim only use the best high quality waxes and products. We use strip wax and hard wax with low working temperatures for your comfort. We use a combination of brands to deliver the best possible waxing results to our customers.

This will be my first wax. What do I need to know?

Firstly, you are in safe hands at Waxim. At your first appointment, you will need to fill out a consultation form to ensure waxing is a suitable treatment for you. I will then explain the details of your appointment and tell you how to get ready, e.g. to what extent to undress and where to place your modesty towel. I will leave you to get ready and make yourself comfortable on the treatment couch. Waxing commences. You may need to help at times during the treatment e.g. keeping the skin taut but you will be directed in this process, as well as any changes in position you will be required to make. After the treatment, you will get home care advice and an aftercare sheet with instructions on how to look after your post waxed treatment area and how to maintain the area between waxes. Now all that is left to do is schedule your next appointment in 4-6 weeks’ time.

Will my wax hurt?

Pulling the hair from the root can sometimes be intense, especially in certain areas. Rest assured the sensation disappears in seconds. You can be confident in the knowledge that Waxim use the highest quality products alongside the most advanced waxing techniques to make sure your treatment is as comfortable as possible. Waxing regrowth hair causes much less sensation than waxing the initial full growth. This means the first wax will be the most intense, but the more frequently you return (recommended every 4-6 weeks) the less sensation you will feel from your wax.

How long does the hair need to be for wax?

For best results, the hair needs to be approximately 1cm. I recommend waiting 3 weeks from shaving or 4-6 weeks between waxes.

Should I trim or shave my hair before my appointment?

NO !! You could run the risk of taking the hair too short meaning we would not be able to carry out your wax. If your hair needs trimming down, this will be included as part of your treatment before the waxing commences.

How should I prepare for my wax?

You should exfoliate twice a week and moisturise the treatment area daily to get the best results from your wax. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and works to release hairs trapped under the skin. Moisturising keeps the skin supple and in a better condition to be waxed. On the day of your appointment, please shower so you are fresh for your appointment and do not apply heavy moisturisers.

How long will my wax take?

This completely depends on what treatment you are having done and the extent of your hair coverage.

How long do the results last?

Everyone is different. After your first appointment, you may notice a small amount of regrowth in the first couple of weeks - this is to be expected. It can take up to four treatments 4-6 weeks apart to get your hair into a growth cycle that gives the best results. Hair regrowth will become softer and sparser with regular treatments.

How often will I need a wax?

Ideally, you should get into a 4-6 week waxing cycle. The benefit of regular waxing is that it synchronises the hair growth cycle, so the hairs can grow together and be removed together at the same stage. This means your skin will remain smoother and hair free for longer in between appointments. Sporadic waxing means your hair won’t be in the same growth cycle when removed, which means you’re more likely to get regrowth soon after your appointment due to some hairs being just under the skin at the time of your wax and some hairs being too short to remove. For best results, please do not shave, tweeze or use hair removal creams between appointments.

I am running late for my appointment, what should I do?

Please call or text Waxim on 07511158639 and let me know, if I can push your treatment time back then I will.  If there is another customer booked in directly after you, I will be unable to do this so I will either do what I can in the time available or reschedule your appointment.

Is there somewhere to freshen up?

Waxim has a customer toilet that you are welcome to use. For all intimate wax treatment there will be an individually wrapped hygiene wipe on the treatment couch for you to freshen up before your wax.

Will I need to remove my underwear?

You will only need to remove your underwear for intimate wax treatments. You will be provided with a modesty towel to use during your appointment.

What will happen if I get an erection during the treatment?

This is not uncommon and nothing to be embarrassed about. As a professional I will ignore it and carry on the treatment, it will usually just pass. However, any inappropriate behaviour or speech will not be tolerated. If this happens, the treatment will be terminated immediately, the client will be asked to leave and we may notify the police if necessary.

How will my skin be after my waxing treatment?

After waxing, small bumps and redness are common, perfectly normal and temporary reactions. Follow your aftercare instructions and your skin should return to normal within 24 hours.

What should I do at home between my appointments?

Please follow the aftercare given to you. Moisturise the waxed area daily, dry skin is one of the leading causes of ingrown hairs. Be sure to use a suitable moisturiser, especially for intimate areas. Exfoliate the waxed area a couple of times a week to remove dead skin cells. Please do not shave, tweeze or use hair removal creams.

How do I prevent ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hairs are where the hair is stuck under the surface of the skin. Exfoliate regularly to remove dead skin cells and apply plenty of moisturiser to keep the skin soft and supple. For more stubborn ingrown hairs you can use ingrown xit daily (sold at the Waxim suite) a salicylic-based product to encourage the hairs out from under the skin.
